Matt Kollar here, well not technically where you are "here" but more where I am "here".
Wow! So many projects, so much in the works. Here's a quick overview of what SBP has been up to this Summer.
"The Black Rock Mountain" an animation collaboration between myself, Colin Walker, Director and Animator Charles Pieper and Actor Timmy Red had its debut screening with a live score by Ellen Warkentine, with great success! More information on screenings coming soon. The interesting thing with "The Black Rock Mountain" is that it has become a sort of William Castle experience an interactive multi-media show with live music, ghouls and terror!
I got to shoot two music videos this summer for two bands that I really like. Both of the videos will be coming out in the fall. The first was for the Country Folk band "Hank and her Ponies". It's a pastel technicolor dream of ghosts and digging up bones. Shot in a beautifully tacky location that really gave the video life.
I seriously can't wait to share this one with the world. It's a period piece and probably the most serious piece of Horror I have ever Directed. Joy Shannon and I spent the entire Summer planning and adding details to this video and I think that what we got is something really special. Had the best crew I've ever had for this one including 1st AD Beth Pennington, Special Effects Wizard Monique Paredes, Set Design by Danielle Kaufman and the boys at Floating Lens Media to name a few. I really can't share too much about the plot right now, but you can pretty much work out what happens by the name of the video. Or the "Name of the Rose" *wink wink, nudge nudge.
As usual there is way too many projects in the pipeline but there is one that is taking the lead as far as producing it first. A horror/comedy/action adventure show influenced by "The Mighty Boosh" the cinema of Sam Raimi and Peter Jackson and the Simpson's Halloween special. We have a terrific script and I think it is really going to be an amazing project once we start going.
So anywho, stay tuned, lots of exciting things in the near future.
